Description
Honda & Acura Module Programming with JRC OBD Tools
JRC OBD Tools supports Honda/Acura module programming for both new and used module replacements, including ECU, IMMO (Immobilizer), Smart Key, BCM, and SRS systems.
1. Programming a New (Virgin) Module
- Tools Required:
- Honda HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) or compatible J2534 tool
- i-HDS (for newer 2018+ models with CAN FD)
- JRC OBD Tools software (with Honda/Acura support)
- OBD-II to USB cable (for direct connection)
- Process:
- Connect via HDS/i-HDS or JRC software
- New modules require:
- VIN programming
- Immobilizer registration (for ECU/BCM)
- Parameter initialization
- Smart Key modules need pairing via HDS security access
2. Programming a Used Module
- Tools Required:
- EEPROM tools (PAD3, XProg, or Honda-specific tools)
- Immo data transfer tools (for ECU/BCM matching)
- Key programming tools (MVP Pro, Tango, or Honda-specific)
- Process:
- Used ECUs must be:
- Virginized (reset immobilizer data)
- ISN-matched to vehicle
- BCM replacement requires:
- PIN code from original vehicle
- Immobilizer relearn procedure
- Smart Key modules need full reinitialization
- Used ECUs must be:
Key Notes:
- Immobilizer Systems:
- Honda 5th gen IMMO (2015+) requires online access
- Older systems can be programmed offline
- Smart Key Programming:
- Requires all keys present during procedure
- Some models need 30-minute security wait time
- Always:
- Backup original module data
- Check software version compatibility
- Verify CAN bus communication after programming
Special Cases:
- Hybrid Systems:
- MCM (Motor Control Module) requires special initialization
- High-voltage safety procedures must be followed
- Acura Differences:
- Some models require additional security steps
- RL/MDX may need different procedures
